February 2, 2021 – Bristol Technical Education Center (BTEC), part of the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System, is now accepting applications for adult learners and grade 11 and 12 students for the 2021-2022 school year. Adults and high school students with an interest in the trades, and who are seeking career skills, are encouraged to apply. The priority application deadline is March 1, 2021.

At BTEC, students choose from six in-demand career technologies and complete hours towards certification in their area of study. Programs of study include Automotive Technology (2 year program); Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (2 year program); Culinary Arts (1 year program); Mechatronics (1 year program); Precision Machining (1 year program); and Welding & Metal Fabrication (1 year program).

Each school year is 10-months in duration beginning in late-August and ending in mid-June. All career technology programs are full-time. Programs are designed to teach students technical and employability skills needed to enter the workforce. For additional program information visit the BTEC website.

Grade 11 and 12 students complete academic requirements towards graduation at their sending school in the morning, and spend the remainder of the school day at BTEC learning a trade. Students can participate in after-school athletics offered at their sending school. High school students will receive a diploma from their sending school and a certificate from Bristol Tech.

Adult learners must have a high school diploma or GED to be eligible for admission.

Unique to the BTEC experience are the production projects and hands-on career development experience students gain through partnerships with local companies through the Work-Based Learning program.
